After studying Biochemistry at Cambridge University (UK), Ulf Nehrbass moved to EMBL (Heidelberg, Germany) and obtained his PhD from Heidelberg University. His graduate work under Prof E.C. Hurt led to the functional determination of the first nucleoporin. This study was thematically followed in his postdoctoral work with Nobel Price Laureate Günter Blobel at Rockefeller University (New York, USA), where Dr. Nehrbass focused on the molecular mechanisms of nuclear transport, as well as the structural organization of nuclear envelope components. In 1998, Dr. Nehrbass started an independent group at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, where he began working on nuclear structure function relationship. After becoming the Chef d'Unité and Directeur de Recherche in the Paris Institute, in 2004 Dr. Nehrbass became Director and CEO of the newly founded Institut Pasteur Korea located in Seoul. Institut Pasteur Korea has developed into a world leading translational research center discovering both the molecular underpinnings of disease and new therapeutic interventions. He is now CEO of KSILINK which is a public private partnership covering the integrated therapy development process from early research up to the patient. Dr. Emmanuelle Ebel-Jost - Adoc Mètis After a master obtained in 2006 in Strasbourg, Dr. Ebel-Jost started a PhD in performing arts in that she finished in 2010. After that, she was involved in teaching at the University of Strasbourg for several years before starting a consulting company along with Dr. Simon Thierry. She is now associated director of the aforementioned company, AdocMétis. During her studies she was strongly committed in PhD organizations Addal (Association des Doctorants et Docteurs d’Alsace) and CJC (Confédération des jeunes chercheurs) to which she was president. Dr. Luc Van Hijfte - Novithera After a PhD in Ghent University in organic chemistry Dr. Van Hijfte moved to the USA for a 2 years post-doc in University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). In 1997, he came back to Europe to take the lead of the Chemistry Department at Sanofi where he stayed for 4 years. Pursuing his career in major pharmaceutical companies he moved to Janssen-Cilag where he was Research director for 7 years. After that he worked for NovAliX for 4 years where he was CSO. He is now President and CEO of Novithera, a joint venture between NovAliX and ProQinase. Apart form this he is also the president of the Société de Chimie Thérapeutique. Round tables
Dr Richard Bouaoun obtained his PhD in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Strasbourg, in the lab of Prof. Jules Hoffmann, in 2009 and his Master’s Degree in innovating projects management from the University of Strasbourg in 2010. He first worked as a project manager at the Alsatian incubator, SEMIA where he accompanied 6 biotech projects, among which Defymed. In 2011, he joined Defymed, a start-up aiming at developing and marketing implantable bio-artificial medical devices for diverse therapeutic applications, first as project leader and from 2012 as R&D Manager. Since 2014 he is Director of Operations in this start-up. He is in charge of establishing and following Defymed’s R&D collaborations or contract services with academics, SMEs and industrials, raising public funds, presenting Defymed® in international meetings and co-defining Defymed’s international business and IP strategies. In parallel, he is a part-time teacher at the faculty of Economics and Management of Strasbourg where he teaches Startups’ creation, Business plans’ writing, Business models’ definition and R&D project management in three distinct Masters. Dr. Sébastien Letélié - HEALTH FACTORY Sébastien graduated in 2002 from the Université de La Rochelle with a PhD in Computer Sciences. He became an IT developer and spent his time in healthcare industry. He is making better health management softwares to improve healthcare and help health professionals in their day job by using new technologies. Involved in entrepreneurship and innovation especially in healthcare by organizing events (hackathons, conferences, ...). After graduating from a Master’s degree in Life science in Strasbourg, Emeline started a second Master in healthcare industry management in ESCP Europe, Paris and obtained her degree in 2014. Since then, she worked as a Medical Technologies Project Manager in Alsace Biovalley and co-founded in 2015 a start-up : EMY – Get the Control. She’s now a full time CEO of this start-up which is developing an innovative connected medical device for pelvic floor reeducation. This project already received two prices ( « Prix de la meilleure solution pour la santé publique », Hacking Health Camp and « Meilleur projet d’objet connecté », Concours national Avnet Silica) and will be soon available in the market ! Dr. Oleksandr Koniev - Syndivia Dr. Oleksandr Koniev is a CEO of Syndivia. He obtained his doctorate in the Laboratory of Functional Chemo-Systems at the University of Strasbourg. During his Ph.D., he worked on the development of biospecific reactions with the potential to enhance therapeutic properties of bioconjugates. He initiated collaborations with a number of leading European research teams and successfully crafted bioconjugation technologies that address the most critical market needs. Dr. Koniev has eight years of academic and industrial experience in synthetic chemistry. He is a co-inventor of APN and C&R technologies. Apolline Busch obtained her Engineer Degree in Biotechnologies from Mines ParisTech Engineering School.Since 2014 she’s working at the Incubator SEMIA, supporting entrepreneurs in start-up creation and from the beginning of 2017 managing the activity of the incubator. Dr. Alain Wagner - Laboratory of Functional Chemo-Systems Alain Wagner obtained his PhD in synthetic chemistry at the University of Strasbourg in 1991 under the supervision of Charles Mioskowski. During his post-doctoral training in a start-up of the Silicon Valley (Affymax), he got interested in the promising domains of catalytic antibodies and combinatorial synthesis. Alain Wagner joined CNRS in 1994 and was promoted Research Director in 2001. In 2002, he found and led Novalyst Discovery a technology-based company conducting drug development programs for pharmaceutical companies. Merging with a company specialized in structural biology Alixcompany led the creation of Novalix Pharma which is today employing more than 80 persons in France and Spain. Latter, Alain Wagner participated actively in the creation of eNovalys SAS (2009) a company that staked on the digital technology to improve synthetic chemistry efficacy. eNovalys was awarded by the French “Creation d’Entreprise Innovante” contest. At the End of 2007, Alain quitted the direction of Novalix to return to CNRS and found the Laboratory of Functional Chemo-Systems at the faculty of Pharmacy in Strasbourg. Among his recent achievements, the development of novel bio-conjugation technologies led in 2014 to the creation of Syndivia SAS, a start-up which ambition to become a key technology provider in the field of Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC).
Dr. Marion Recher - QuintilesIMS Graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) in 2011, Marion obtained her PhD in chemical biology in the Laboratory of Functional Chemo-Systems at the University of Strasbourg. During her Ph.D, she worked on the development of bioorthogonal chemistry for pharmacokinetic and proteomic applications. In 2016, Marion started to undertake a training session at a CRA training institute in Paris. She started her career as a site study coordinator (SSC) at the Centre de Lutte Contre le Cancer in Marseille. Today, she is a clinical research associate at QuintilesIMS. After studying molecular and cellular biology at the University of Strasbourg, Anne Tisserant started a PhD at the Institute of Toxicology and Genetics (ITG) in Karlsruhe. In 2007 she moved to Forenap Pharma where she was clinical lead. Three years later she entered one of the top pharmaceutical companies as a clinical trial leader and is now a senior scientist. Dr Antoinette HAKME is a senior Medical Science Liaison at MSD France. She obtained her PhD in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Strasbourg, in the lab of Valérie Schreiber, in 2009 and her FIEC degree in 2010. After a training in clinical trials at the hospital of Strasbourg, she joined The Binding Site (a British diagnostic company) where she held a sales representative position for one year and then she had been promoted to a medical science liaison position. She was responsible of East, North and Ile de France areas for hematology field. She is now working for MSD, ranked in the top-10 pharmaceutical companies, as a confirmed medical science liaison in various therapeutic areas (gastroenterology, rheumatology, immunology). Her role is to scientifically advise and educate on a peer-to-peer level with doctors and key opinion leaders. ...
Bérénice Kimpe studied foreign languages applied to business and spent altogether 7 years in Germany. After her education in France and Germany, she joined a training institute to be in charge of European programmes for socially disadvantaged young people, with the conviction that a professional experience abroad accelerates their personal development. She was then recruited by an association to promote the bilingual education in schools and thus increase the future employability of young people. Since Sept. 2009, she has been working for ABG to develop international partnerships, with a specific focus on Germany and European countries. Dr. Hugues Dreyssé - Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg Hugues Dreyssé has obtained a PhD in 1980 in Strasbourg in physics and a « Doctorat d’Etat » in 1984 in Mulhouse. From 1981 to 88, he has been « Maitre de Conférences » in Mulhouse and then he moved to the University of Nancy where he became Full Professor. Since 1993 he is Professor at the University of Strasbourg. His research interests are theoretical solid state physics and particularly the studies of electronic and magnetic properties of complex systems, low dimensional systems and nanostructures in the IPCMS (Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg). He has been chair or involved in various national and international networks. He has published more than 210 papers in international journals. He has been strongly involved in the evaluation of the research policy at the national level, for instance as Chairman of a physics section in the French agencies (CNU) and then in the CNRS. He has also been from 2007 to 2016 Vice-President of the University Louis Pasteur, and then the University of Strasbourg, in charge of the Human Resources. Dr. Margaux Kersshot - Adoc Tm Margaux holds a PhD from KU Leuven and Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium). After translation studies and a Master in international relationships and diplomacy, she had various positions in several countries, such an internship in the Belgium ambassy in Geneva, and various visitor researcher position in Barcelona and Edinburg. Margaux is the former President (2015-2016) at Eurodoc Association. She joined Adoc Talent Management in 2016 as a business developer and give various conferences, courses and workshops about career paths for PhDs. Dr. Joern Pütz - Université de Strasbourg Born in Cologne (Germany), after studying biology in Germany, he obtained a doctorate in Molecular Biology from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, and has been a research professor at the University of Strasbourg since 1996. Since 2003 he has implemented and coordinated exchanges for Life Sciences students with numerous international partners (ERASMUS+ programme), and since 2009 he has been in charge of the Franco-German curriculum programme (UFA-DFH), an exchange between the University of Strasbourg and Saarland University for Biology undergraduates and postgraduates. Within the Franco-German University, he is elected member of the university council. Deputy Vice-President of Franco-German relations since 2014, he has participated in the creation of the cross-border organisation ‘Eucor - The European Campus’, which encompasses the five universities of Basel, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Mulhouse and Strasbourg.
Marc Bigaud obtained his PhD in Pharmacology at the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg. He completed his PhD with a post-doc in Boston. Right after he moved to Hoechst Marion Roussel, Inc. He is currently a senior pharmacologist with long standing experience in Preclinical Research in Pharma-Industry. He is a Project Team Leader for the Discovery and Preclinical Development of new drug candidates in the field of cardiovascular, AutoImmunity, Inflammation and Transplantation. Thus he has a strong expertise in in vivo Pharmacology (with development and implementation of a wide range of mechanistic & disease models) and Translational Research. Laetitia Fend obtained her PhD in 2014 in co-direction with Transgene where she studied the use of orthotopic and transgenic preclinical mouse tumor models for the evaluation of experimental approaches for the immunotherapy of cancer. During her thesis, she succeeded to finish three projects rewarded with three publications (while she became a single mother). After a 2 year post-doc in the team of Laurence Zitvogel, Institut Gustave-Roussy (Villejuif) , she rejoined Transgene and work now as a Head of Laboratory since 2016. The current research of her group focuses on the impact of Oncolytic Viruses on the anti-tumor immune responses. Dr Rachel Amouroux - Inoviem Scientific Dr Rachel Amouroux obtained her PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the University Pierre-et-Marie-Curie in Paris in 2009. During her PhD, she was working at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) on the repair of oxidative DNA damage within nuclear architecture: the relocalization of base excision repair proteins in response to oxidative stress. In 2010, Dr Amouroux joined the Imperial College London as a post-doctoral fellow and was implicated in the investigation of the molecular mechanisms leading to genome-wide DNA demethylation during embryogenesis. Since 2016, Dr Amouroux is Head of Research at Inoviem Scientific, a start-up which has developed new biophysical techniques for molecular interaction analysis and identification of proteins involved in drug-target interactions. After a PhD in Biochemistry and Structural biology obtained at Grenoble University on the study of the ubiquitin ligase involved in membrane protein degradation AMSH, Emilie Schell has joined the Structural Biology team and the business development team at the European Synchrotron (ESRF). Then, she has joined Sanofi Strasbourg R and D site two years ago, in the Biophysics team, in order to study the interaction between the pharmacology targets of interest and the future drugs.

Dr. Manuel Simoes - CPC Analytics Manuel Simoes graduated with a PhD in biophysic and molecular physiology from the University of Montreal in 2006. During his PhD he used computational analyses to describe with a mathematical model the diffusion of ions in a channel pore. He then moved to Strasbourg where he developed tools to predict the therapeutic advantage of a given molecule. Then, he worked with surgeon to bring solutions for robot assisted surgery. Recently, he created the “Data lab” from “La Fabrique” for proposing data science analyses as well as teaching Data Science. He is also CTO and Head of Data Science at CPC Analytics. Mr. Denos started his studies in organic chemistry. Later on he moved to computational sciences and obtained a master's degree in chemoinformatics in 2015. In parallel he obtained a diploma from Stanford University in Databases management. He became analyst for Roche in 2016 and is now Data scientist in the same Company in Basel. Sébastien graduated in 2009 from the Université de Strasbourg with a PhD in Computer Sciences. His thesis was on object recognition in remote sensing images. After a short time being data scientist consultant, he worked as senior data analyst for Blizzard Entertainment. Currently, he is involved in the entrepreneurship space helping to make Strasbourg an innovation hub. ...
Charlène Karsten - Cabinet BLEGER-RHEIN-POUPON Charlene started her carrier by completing a master at the University of Strasbourg. She studied life sciences with a focus on microbiology. After that Charlene took one year during which she focused on the study of intellectual property at CEIPI (Centre d'études internationales de la Proprité Intellectuelle). When finishing her studies in 2013, she started working for Cabinet BLEGER-RHEIN-POUPON, where she employed as an engineer. This company was founded more than 20 years ago and is assisting people to obtain, maintain and defend their industrial property rights. After a master in biological chemistry and a PhD in biophysics and structural biology in IGBMC (Illkirch), Morgan joined in 2015 the CEIPI (Center for International Intellectual Property Studies). This school, located in Strasbourg, trains young scientists, PhDs or engineers, to become intellectual property specialists, and offers refresher trainings in private law, IP law, patent prosecution in the main offices (France, Europe, US, World) and IP litigation. In 2016, Morgan joined the IP law firm ICOSA, specialized in life sciences, biotechs, chemistry and medical devices. First in Paris, now in Brussels, Morgan drafts and prosecutes patent applications, litigations and legal consultations. With his double expertise in both biology and patent law, Morgan interacts and exchanges daily with clients and partners from diverse backgrounds, such as public or private labs, SATTs (accelerator of technology transfer companies), start-ups, industrials or worldwide IP specialists. »
Dr. Franck Di Scala - Bio-Rad Laboratories Dr Franck Di Scala obtained his PhD at the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg and University of Basel. During these years he set up a French-Swiss collaboration and managed two research projects on genetic screening. He also draw up an industrial contract for a clinical study. During his PhD, he published 2 articles in specialized journals, had 6 international publications and obtained 2 patents. After his PhD he studied at the graduate school of business of Grenoble. During his internship, he worked with a senior account manager in order to learn the sales techniques in the field and he developed strategies to optimize a sales territory. He is currently account manager at the Bio-Rad Laboratories. He is developing and promoting sales of instrumentation, reagents and services, managing a portfolio of over 1,400 clients at a high technical level in academic, hospital, and industrial research laboratories, mainly in the Northeast region of France. Dr. Anastasia Grabarz - French Tech After obtaining her Master’s degree at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland Anastasia Grabarz decided to do her PhD studies at the Paris Sud University in Orsay, France. After graduation she chose to stay in France for a PostDoc at the IGBMC in Illkirch. After 8 years of research, she became interested in accompanying start-ups and entrepreneurs. She completed a Master’s degree in innovative project engineering at Strasbourg University and had the opportunity to work on an open innovation project at Sanofi. Currently, she’s managing #HealthTech projects at French Tech Alsace and she is involved as a volunteer in ‘Hacking Health Strasbourg’ and ‘PEPITE-ETENA Student’s entrepreneurship cluster’ projects.
Sacha Mijailovic - GXP CONSULTING Sacha Mijailovic obtained his Master’s degree in the Pharmacy university of Strasbourg in 2007. He started his career as Quality Assistant at Chiral Technologies, where he got familiarized with the practical aspects of GMPs. After this role, he became Quality Assurance consultant in Belgium within a large global consulting firm, the Altran group. This firm quickly gave him the opportunity to launch its healthcare activities in Switzerland, as Business Manager where he successfully built up his own business unit and acquired a solid customer portofolio. After those experiences, he made up his own opinion and vision about the consulting field and decided to found GXP CONSULTING Switzerland in 2014. He is now the managing director of this company specialized in Life Sciences and provides high quality support to its customers through a full range of services all along the product lifecycle. Aurélie Vincenti is graduated with a BTS Biotechnologies and a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Willing to move into the pharmaceutical industry, she completed her university degree with a Master's degree in physico-chemical analyzes of medicines. Aurélie has held several positions in processes/methods/reagents validation, in particular in an international firm in Belgium for 3 years, before joining CVO-EUROPE as a qualification HVAC/equipment consultant. I am currently a consultant in the financing of innovation at Leyton's agency in Saint Cloud. By my training, I am an engineer of PHELMA (school of Grenoble-INP) and holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Grenoble (specialty Micro-technologies). After an experiment in research (Thesis at the TIMA Laboratory and post-doc at CEA-LETI), I spent 2 years as a scientific cooperation assistant at the French embassy in Poland as part of a VIA (International Voluntary Service in Administration). Dr. Julien Hering - Tree of Science Ph.D. in Neuroscience (UPMC, 2004), Julien developed and managed several basic research projects in the field of neuroscience (ion channels, cerebellum, epilepsy, …) using various and innovative experimental approaches (electrophysiology, cellular-molecular biology, new animal models, laser vibrometry). He made his career as a researcher in great world-class laboratories (Ecole Normale Supérieure, Institut Pasteur, Riken BSI) and he has collaborated with international teams in academia and R&D. Moreover, Julien has been in charge of teaching in several universities for ten years. In 2008, Julien also co-founded the NGO "Collectif PAPERA" to provide supports, information and advice to Ph.D. students, Ph.D.s and other casual workers in Higher Education and academic research in France. His experience in research, teaching, and NGO provides him a deep knowledge of the academic and R&D fields with a solid expertise in digital tools and social media. Therefore in 2013, Julien founded the start-up Tree of Science, which is dedicated to make enter the scientific research (science, humanities, and R&D) and citizen science into the digital (r)evolution and Open Science by providing digital solutions and strategy for researchers and their research organizations. Tree of Science promotes Science 2.0, digital tools and networks for researchers, Open science, science crowdfunding, and Open innovation to trigger a systematic change in the modus operandi of doing research and managing science. Mehmet Talas is the founder of Talas Partners, a consulting firm specialized in the supporting of innovative companies on their funding strategy. With a rich experience in the consulting sector, he develops a specialized support for startups and SMEs on the tax systems of innovation, on public support systems for innovation, on crowdfunding and fundraising.
Dr. Alain Xayaphoummine - BIONEXT / Therascape Dr. Xayaphoummine as studied Physics at University of Laval (Canada) before he started his research career by a PhD in Statistical physics applied to RNA models at the University of Strasbourg. He graduated in 2004 and completed his education with a master’s degree in Business/Managerial Economics. In 2008 he moved to BPI France where he was Buisness manager for 4 years. From 2012 to 2016 he came back to Alsace working with Alsace Biovalley as a Head of finance. He is now both Chief operating officer of BIONEXT and Director of Therascape. He is also a former active member of the Association des Doctorants et Docteurs d’Alsace. Guilleaume Monnain started his career by studying biology and chemistry at the University in Orleans, France. He did his internship in Cebiphar, which focuses on the development and control of human and veterinary pharmaceuticals. After he obtained a degree at ESCEM (Graduate School of Business and Management) in a field of study: Business Administration and Management. He did numerous volunteering activity mainly as a scientific mediator. He worked for Johnson&Johnson as a R&D Project Manager and later as a scientific mediator for a non-profit organisation called Les Petits Débrouillards which provides scientific and technical activities for children and young people. In 2016 he founded AKENIUM which specializes in scientific popularization and offers its services in Graphic Facilitation applied to Sciences. Currently he also works as an organisation team member at TEDxSaclay inspired by TED and TEDx stimulating short talks. Within 22 years in industry I have occupied many different management positions in Production, Supply Chain, Technical, Purchasing and Project Management. 13 years in total in biopharma/biotech and 4 years to manage a plant of 430 employees producing intravenous biodrugs. My passion for innovation and entrepreneurship oriented me towards activities like startup incubation & acceleration, capital investment, coaching & consulting. In a more general way, the purpose is to bring added value to companies looking for growth, innovation, digitalization, strategy and continuous improvement. Dr. Jean-Christophe Peter - Medalis Dr. Jean-Christophe Peter started his career in the field of G-protein coupled receptors and modulation of their activity by using antibodies. Since then, he continued to work on the antibody/antigen interaction, designed pharmacologically active antibodies and fragments thereof and established in vivo models of autoimmune disease. After obtaining his PhD from the University of Strasbourg, he joined Prof. Hofbauer’s group at the Biozentrum of the Basel University as Associate Professor. He co-founded Obexia AG in 2009 and operated as CSO until 2011. He is now scientific manager of the center of excellence (Medalis) at Strasbourg. His contributions were recognized by an award from the French National Academy of Pharmacy (2005), by a Young Investigators Award from the European Association for the Study of Obesity (2009) and by the International Award for Excellence in Published Clinical Research from the endocrine society and Pfizer (2010).
Dr. Cécile Campagne - Institut Curie Trained as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, I continued with a PhD in Oncology on cutaneous melanoma. I realized a first short post-doc at Institut Curie on a collaborative R & D project with Clarins which led to a patent. I then moved to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York where I worked on DNA repair during radiotherapy treatments. At the same time, I took the night class on ‘technology transfer and entrepreneurship’ proposed by the Institute. I returned to France in 2016 as a Research & Innovation Engineer at l'Oréal. I joined the Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnerships Office (TTPIO) of Institut Curie last September. As Sourcing & Early development manager, I am in charge of identifying and coordinating the early development of innovative projects or technologies before their transfer to industrial partners. To this end, I work in close collaboration with the inventors of the research center and the hospital complex of Institut Curie to support the early phases of project development in order to reduce risks, create value and convince industrial partners. This involves interaction with key regional and national actors in technology transfer. I am also in charge of the training of members of the Institut Curie on technology transfer challenges. In this context, the Curie In'C2 initiative was created. Finally, I am the communication manager of the TTPIO and of the Institut Carnot Curie Cancer, a label of excellence in partnership research granted to the Institut Curie since 2011. Dr. Anastasia Grabarz - French Tech After obtaining her Master’s degree at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland Anastasia Grabarz decided to do her PhD studies at the Paris Sud University in Orsay, France. After graduation she chose to stay in France for a PostDoc at the IGBMC in Illkirch. After 8 years of research, she became interested in accompanying start-ups and entrepreneurs. She completed a Master’s degree in innovative project engineering at Strasbourg University and had the opportunity to work on an open innovation project at Sanofi. Currently, she’s managing #HealthTech projects at French Tech Alsace and she is involved as a volunteer in ‘Hacking Health Strasbourg’ and ‘PEPITE-ETENA Student’s entrepreneurship cluster’ projects. Dr. Christian Schuster - Sandoz After finishing his studies in medicine at University of Vienna, Christian Schuster completed his PhD studies at Medical University of Vienna. Thereafter he took two positions as a PostDoc, at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna and at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. After eight years of academic research, he took a position as technology manager at DKFZ for five years. He currently works as a clinical research medical advisor at Sandoz. Dr. Jérôme Ehrhart - SATT CONECTUS Jérôme Ehrhart holds a PhD in Supramolecular chemistry from the University of Strasbourg. After a post-doc experience in the field of nanomedecine, he joined an MBA in the management of Pharma/biotech companies, in Grenoble School of Management. In 2013, he has worked as a start-up consultant within ESN Life sciences GmbH, a Swiss based company, mainly supporting early stage companies in their effort of Business development and fundraising, with a strong emphasis on strategic thinking, Business plan building, Venture Capitalists' relations and Assets valuation. He currently occupies a position of project and licensing manager in the Technology Transfer Office of the Alsace Region (SATT CONECTUS) in Strasbourg, supporting the value creation and the licensing of inventions emerging from the public laboratories of the region.
Guilleaume Monnain started his career by studying biology and chemistry at the University in Orleans, France. He did his internship in Cebiphar, which focuses on the development and control of human and veterinary pharmaceuticals. After he obtained a degree at ESCEM (Graduate School of Business and Management) in a field of study: Business Administration and Management. He did numerous volunteering activity mainly as a scientific mediator. He worked for Johnson&Johnson as a R&D Project Manager and later as a scientific mediator for a non-profit organisation called Les Petits Débrouillards which provides scientific and technical activities for children and young people. In 2016 he founded AKENIUM which specializes in scientific popularization and offers its services in Graphic Facilitation applied to Sciences. Currently he also works as an organisation team member at TEDxSaclay inspired by TED and TEDx stimulating short talks. Virginia Schutte obtained her PhD in Ecology from the University of Georgia in 2014. Following a brief postdoc with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, she began her transition into science communication. Since 2015, she held various positions related to scientific communication: she worked as editor at Cactus Communications, Inc., a global scientific editing agency; she was a science translator with Tenure Chasers, who builds personal websites for scientists; and she was most recently the manager for the Ecology and Evolution Community recently launched by Nature. She also did freelance work, delivering science communication workshops around Europe. She launched her own science blog (Real Life Science) in June 2016 that aims to connect scientists directly with the public. Anyone can post, scientist or not, and most posts are now contributed by aspiring science communicators. She just moved to the United States of America in late April to begin her position as the science communications officer for LUMCON, the marine lab that serves all of Louisiana’s public universities. Sam gained his PhD in molecular biology at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, in 2005. He continued as a postdoc in the same lab for a year before moving to Heidelberg, Germany, to work as assistant editor for the Science & Society section of the journal EMBO Reports. As editor, Sam commissioned and edited articles about the wider impact of science on society, including on politics, economics, ethics and health. Sam also developed his 'Make Science Make Sense' course on communicating research with non-scientists. After 5 years as editor, Sam took on responsibility for all four of EMBO's research journals as project manager and later publishing manager, liaising with EMBO's publishers on developing and executing editorial initiatives. In 2016, Sam started work for the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Lebenswissenschaften Heidelberg GmbH (GFLW) as project coordinator and trainer for EMBO's range of Laboratory Management Courses. Sam now works full time developing and delivering 'soft skills' training for researchers in the life sciences. Le Delliou Christel - Le Vaisseau "During my studies as a geophysics engineer, I was an explainer at the seismology museum for the University of Strasbourg. I discovered the pleasure of transmitting, exchanging, the challenge of adapting to the public. In the Jardin des Sciences, during 3 years, I was explainer then operational coordinator of the Fête de la Science. Since 2005, I am still working in scientific and technical culture, at the Vaisseau as an exhibitions manager and then as a cultural service manager."
Dr Daniel Da Costa obtained his PhD in molecular biology from the University of Strasbourg in 2012 and his Master in Innovation management (Master IPI) from the Faculté de Sciences Economiques et de Gestion (FSEG) in 2013. He first worked as project manager Semia, the Alsacian innovative business incubator, as well as at Medeuronet, a partner company specialized in guiding its clients in the commercialization process of their innovative medical devices. He is currently Communication and Commercial Officer at Inoviem, a start-up which has developed new biophysical techniques for molecular interaction analysis and identification of proteic binding partners. He is in charge of the communication of the company, and also of its business and commercial developments. Dr. Franck Di Scala - Bio-Rad Laboratories Dr Franck Di Scala obtained his PhD at the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg and University of Basel. During these years he set up a French-Swiss collaboration and managed two research projects on genetic screening. He also draw up an industrial contract for a clinical study. During his PhD, he published 2 articles in specialized journals, had 6 international publications and obtained 2 patents. After his PhD he studied at the graduate school of business of Grenoble. During his internship, he worked with a senior account manager in order to learn the sales techniques in the field and he developed strategies to optimize a sales territory. He is currently account manager at the Bio-Rad Laboratories. He is developing and promoting sales of instrumentation, reagents and services, managing a portfolio of over 1,400 clients at a high technical level in academic, hospital, and industrial research laboratories, mainly in the Northeast region of France. Dr. Frederic Marc-Kreucher - Merck Frederic graduated in 2000 with a PhD in microbiology at the University of Nantes, France. He then completed a Master of Administration and Innovative Company. He went to USA for a research associate position at the Ohio University for 1 year and a half. When he came back to France he co-founded a biotech company. Now, he is currently working in Merck to track new technologies with a comprehensive experience based knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry value chain. Dr. Marjorie Sidhoum - Domain Therapeutics Marjorie Sidhoum has a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Strasbourg, France. In 2005, she trained in the design and management of clinical trials and worked with leading KOLS in the Onco-Hematology area until 2007. From 2008, Marjorie led the incubation and incorporation of Almetis, a spin-off of the University of Strasbourg, dedicated to the discovery of innovative medicines in oncology. In parallel, she graduated from HEC Challenge Plus, a program for the management of innovative projects. In 2010, she co-founded Almetis and managed the corporate and business development activities.
